A decorative quartz floor finish from Flowcrete’s commercial
flooring range is taking centre stage at the new Barnsley Academy
development located on arm Road.
The new academy, which specialises in business and enterprise, has been built to provide students from the communities of Kendray and Worsbrough with state-of-the-art learning facilities including an ICT Resource Centre, Performance Hall, Music Suite, Dance Studio as well as a fully integrated Sports and Leisure Centre.
2,000 sq metres of Flowcrete’s Peran STB – a seamless epoxy floor screed containing colour stable quartz granules sealed in a clear resin binder – has been used in a striking blue shade to floor the school ’s Resistant Materials Suite, Art Rooms, CT Centre and Food Technology Workshops.
Offering high durability and scratch resistance as well as a hygienic and seamless floor finish that is easy to both clean and maintain, Peran STB is the ideal flooring system for use in wet and dry environments subject to heavy impact, footfall and chemical spillage.
In conjunction with the UK Building Schools for the Future programme, Peran STB meets the relevant Section 2 ‘Floor Finishes in Schools’ requirements for type A (general), B (light practical), C (heavy practical) and D (wet area) flooring as specified in the Standard Specifications, Layouts and Dimensions Guidance Notes (2007).
Available in a striking range of quartz blends, Peran STB teams aesthetics with workability to deliver a
versatile and hygienic flooring system that can be used in a variety of environments across the learning complex.
